Description
Džūkstes baznīca dibināta 1567.gadā pēc tam, kad Kurzemes hercogs Gethards Ketlers uzsāka Kurzemes baznīcu sakārtošanu. Mūra ēka bijusi uzcelta 1689.gadā no laukakmeņiem. Ēkai bijis sarkans kārniņu jumts. Arī tornis celts no laukakmeņiem un kaļķa ar sarkanu kārniņu jumtu.
Baznīca bijusi vairākkārt pārbūvēta. 1899.gadā tā ieguvusi jaunu, augstu un slaidu torņa noslēgumu, kas pilnībā izmainījis celtnes sākotnējo ārējo veidolu. Vēl 1932.gadā baznīca izremontēta, taču Otrā pasaules kara beigās tā tika pilnībā nopostīta. No baznīcas saglabājušās tikai drupas. Draudze ir pasūtījusi jaunas baznīcas projektu un veic tās celtniecību.
